Transitioning to an influencer marketing platform

In October 2018, my supervisor from my previous summer internship at FLATLAY approached me to redesign the UX of their current website for visitors to learn about their new services.

The company was in the process of transitioning from an ecommerce space to an influencer marketing platform that connects creators and brands directly. The goal was to quickly develop the UX design within limited amount of time, while leveraging the brand’s aesthetic.

Problem

The original landing page of FLATLAY was too outdated and crowded. It neither translated its brand value - youthful and energetic - nor followed its brand color. Flaylay also needed a shift on its overall focus since it was in the process of transitioning into an influencer-marketing platform.

Solution

The new pages are designed to follow the brand color palate with small alterations. What is left is an appropriate amount of white space on each page that eliminates unnecessary words or image. The pop colors choice and minimal background provides simplicity.

New to Adobe XD and UI Design, tasked with the impossible

Initially, I hardly knew anything about Adobe XD and web design when approached with the task. I was able to quickly learn XD and basic UX design principles on the job just through my existing skills in graphic design.

However, due to the repositioning of the brand, I was having a hard time inserting a new brand concept into my design. After extensive research on websites with similar functions, such as Popular Pays and the H Hub, I settled down on a color palate, fonts and required pages ahead of designing.  

We completed the sites with 5 different tabs of content within 3 months.
